The moment when you feel that all your ideas are running low and your fingers are stuck to the keypad. think….blog….blog….think….What happens next? Yup! Sounds like a dosage of writer’s block. That little cube that is stuck in middle of our mind and blocking our creative juices from flowing. What’s the cure? Is there an antidote? Apart from banging your head to the table, is there really a way out? The same question that I ask myself over and over again when Writer’s block hit me.
WHAT MAKES A BLOGGER?
Sugar, Spice and everything nice is what girls are made of. So what are the secret ingredients to making a blogger? I remember a quote from Vince Lombardi:-
Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by Hard Effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile. – Vince Lombardi
How does someone know that they will become a blogger?
What are the signs that one must have?
What are the characteristics that one must possess?
What qualifications do you need?
What are the skills that you require to become a blogger?
Is there a real career path into blogging?
My answer? As long as you have:-
If you have the passion for writing then you are on the right track. Blogging is a two-way communication. A platform for you to interact with your readers and followers that have the same passions, hobbies, interests as you.
What makes a blog receive high traffic stats? Apart from implementing SEO? t’s the posts. The more frequent you publish a post, the more chances that people are going to read it. The more persist you are to sticking to a posting schedule the more likely you are going to write. You don’t have to post every hour of everyday. But stick to a time and day that you are willing to invest your time in (having an editorial calendar may help). It’s much better if you are able to inject your 110% into you writings, the more ‘REAL’ your contents are, the more genuine readers and followers you will attract to your blog site.
It’s not all about crunching the numbers. It’s not all about the stats. If you are too focused on punching numbers, then it will reflect with your writings. Be honest and stay true to you. If those creative juices isn’t flowing, no sweat!. Take a deep breath and exhale. Look outside your window and look within yourself and ask yourself what inspired you to write? What are the inspirations that captured you this week?
You do not need an actual academic qualification to blog. But you do need to have an interest into learning the blogging platforms such as Content Management System (CMS), Blogging sites that offer free domains such as WordPress.com or Blogger.com. And basic or fair knowledge in copyediting, content writing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). The more vast your knowledge and skills, the more you will be able to decide on what works for you and your blog.
Ask yourself…What is the definition of blogging to you? Why you chose blogging? There is no actual specific answer to this question because Blogging is a universal language that everyone can speak. It’s a communication tool. It’s how you choose to use this tool is what makes a difference.
